Global Studies coordinates and supports many different funding programs for students and faculty. Complete information on each of the programs is available by following the respective link.

 

  • Division of International Studies Field Research Awards
    Deadline to submit applications for 2013 awards was 2 November 2012.
    These awards enable PhD students to conduct exploratory summer field research abroad in order to develop their dissertation topics and be more competitive for extramural fellowships.
  • Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships
    Applications for Summer 2012 & AY 2012-2013 are due 15 February 2013.
    FLAS fellowships are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the UW's National Resource Centers to assist students in acquiring foreign language and either area or international studies competencies.
  • Scott Kloeck-Jenson Fellowships
    Applications for Summer 2013 awards are due 25 February 2013.
    Global Studies annually awards the SKJ International Internship Fellowships and the International Pre-Dissertation Travel Fellowships to support doctoral students whose work includes considerable social justice elements.
 

  • Distinguished International Visitors Fund
    Proposal period for AY 2011-2012 awards has closed.
    Distinguished International Visitors are persons who will bring high visibility to International Institute programs and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The visitor must be of interest to more than one International Institute program and will usually be in residence for at least one week but generally not more than one month.
  • Strategic Speaker Fund
    Proposal period for AY 2011-2012 awards has closed.
    This program supports bringing one featured speaker to campus for an extended visit who would engage in both large and small group activities with International Institute program members, providing an opportunity for member programs to develop the intellectual community of the Institute.
