Global Studies is actively involved in all levels of outreach, with a goal of providing educators and community leaders with the tools to integrate global content into curriculum and community programs, increasing awareness of global issues and better preparing a citizenry for an increasingly interconnected world.

We are a partner in the Wisconsin International Outreach Consortium (WIOC) whose mission is to share resources and collaboratively support international education and global awareness.

Global Studies offers K-12 educators numerous resources for classroom use and opportunities to develop their own global knowledge and skills and curriculum. By providing educators with the tools to integrate global content into the curriculum we seek to increase students' awareness of global issues and prepare them for citizenship in an increasingly interconnected world.

  • Global Studies is again collaborating with the American Red Cross and other National Resource Centers on a summer 2012 workshop on Exploring Humanitarian Law & Human Rights, 18-22 June 2012 (tentative), on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Global Studies offers the Global Guide -- an online resource for teachers and students at all levels on issues of globalization and global studies.

Global Studies, the International Institute, and the Division of International Studies, sponsor a number of research circles and related interdisciplinary programs. These thematic groups involve UW-Madison faculty and graduate students from various disciplines in the humanities and social sciences and are designed to create new forms of area knowledge that cross traditional regional and disciplinary borders. Information on opportunities for funding such programs is available from Global Studies.

And we offer Go Global! @ UW-Madison, assisting students, alumni, and community members as they prepare and search for internationally-oriented employment & work opportunities of all sorts: including summer jobs, post-graduation (or mid-career) employment, internships, volunteer positions, and more.

 

Global Studies is committed to working with Madison-area individuals and community groups to increase awareness of global issues. We offer emailed and online calendars of globally-focused campus and community events thru our Global Studies-sponsored events listing and the Global Happenings calendar, the most comprehensive listing of international events on and around the UW-Madison campus (offered in cooperation with the Division of International Studies).

Global Studies is a partner in Inside Islam: Dialogues and Debates -- a new-media initiative that seeks to challenge misconceptions and stereotypical perceptions about Islam and Muslims worldwide through a collaboration between UW-Madison's nine area and international studies centers, Wisconsin Public Radio, and the public.
