Global Studies Outreach

About Us

Global Studies is actively involved in all levels of outreach, with a goal of providing educators and community leaders with the tools to integrate global content into curriculum and community programs, increasing awareness of global issues and better preparing a citizenry for an increasingly interconnected world.

This summer we are offering a weeklong teacher workshop for k-12 educators, to be held 23-27 June 2008 at Lowell Hall on the UW-Madison campus. The workshop, planned in collaboration with the Center for European Studies, will be on New and Emerging Migrations. Visit the website for more information.

Global Studies strives to put the Wisconsin Idea in Action. To learn more about what the UW does to work with communities statewide visit the website; to learn more how Global Studies can assist you, email us with your questions or suggestions.

K-12

Global Studies offers K-12 educators numerous resources for classroom use and opportunities to develop their own global knowledge and skills and curriculum: including teacher workshops throughout the year, campus events and statewide conference presentations, and World Ecosystems Beyond Borders (WEBB): An Environmental Curriculum for Wisconsin Students.

Higher Education

Global Studies currently has limited but growing outreach resources and opportunities for higher education professionals. Please check back with us over the coming year for additional information and opportunities, including more on the Scholar Access Grant.

Global Studies also hosted the National Conference of Title VI Outreach Coordinators, 27-29 April 2006.

Community

Global Studies is committed to working with Madison-area individuals and community groups to increase awareness of global issues. We have co-sponsored Global Visions -- a free weekly film series running in both 2005 & 2006 -- as well as offering emailed and online calendars of globally-focused campus and community events.
