In the spirit of Scott Kloeck-Jenson, we invite you to set aside part of a day (or more) during the week of October 4, 2009, to give some of your expertise, time, and effort to a local social justice organization as part of the first ever SKJ Day of Service.
Dedicate some volunteer work you already do, explore options available through the SKJ Day of Service, or find an organization in your community (in Madison or anywhere in the world) that you can assist that week and perhaps throughout the year.
Participants register online to share their stories and pictures with fellow volunteers. Interested volunteers can review a list of organizations looking for assistance (suggestions and resources for finding groups in your community are available here too).

If you work with a non-profit interested in having volunteers join you during that week, please complete our online form with information on your organization and particular needs and we'll send along additional details and help match your organization with the right volunteer (or three).

There's no cost to participate -- though we invite everyone interested in supporting the Scott Kloeck-Jenson Fellowships to consider a donation in support of the program. The only "cost" of participation is your time:
› Take a moment to register online;
› Share your time and expertise with a social justice organization;
› Share stories & pictures from your experience.
If you are looking for resources to help find a match to the right opportunity for you, explore options available through the SKJ Day of Service.

What do you get? The satisfaction of helping your community, a t-shirt that you can wear proudly, and the knowledge that you have supported a valuable cause.
Our hope is that this will be a way for each of us to support a program that we believe in and give back to the communities where we live and work, thus making this world a better, more just, place. To see some of the ways in which Scott Kloeck-Jenson and the SKJ Fellows have affected their comunities -- and, in turn, had their lives shaped -- read some of the SKJ Stories.
Through the SKJ Day of Service we hope to be able to share this spirit, and similar impacts, with a much wider community. |
